KittaParts blind threads

How to assemble

If you’ve got blind threads in your project, what we call a "flush top", the top shelf sits clean with none of the usual KittaParts caps poking up above it.

Build it upside down, starting with the top shelf.

A normal KittaParts unit goes together from the adjustable feet up. A flush top goes together the other way around. Flip the whole thing over, start at the top shelf, and work down.

1. Find your blind dowels

Blind dowels have a much shorter thread than the standard ones, only about 12mm. That short thread screws up into the underside of the shelf instead of passing all the way through, which is what leaves the top face clean.

2. Start at the flush top shelf

Turn the unit upside down and start with the shelf that will end up as your flush top. Thread the short blind dowels into it.

3. Work your way down

From here it's the same pattern as a standard KittaParts assembly, just inverted. Add each shelf and its dowels working down towards what will become the bottom of the unit.

4. Finish with the feet

Keep going until every shelf is in. The adjustable feet thread onto the last dowels, which are now pointing up at you.

5. Stand it up

With every shelf and the feet in place, turn the unit the right way up.

Big or awkward units are easier built on their back, lying flat on the floor, then stood up once they’re finished.
